About Us

What happens when you bring together seven black women from across the country that love to help others and are passionate about fitness? A spark is lit. The Virtual Wellness and Fitness Community was inspired by Terri or Coach “T” a mother, student and entrepreneur with radial faith. Realizing how many women of color struggle to go to the gym that was exacerbated by the “Panarama” she sought to alleviate those barriers. A call to action was born and the group was formed with six other phenomenal professionals. Tanya, Syrita, Chanel, Regina, Vanessa and Ajeenah…..

My fitness origin story began a long time ago in the middle of my living floor while watching Jane Fonda move across the floor. That same year I asked my mom for a “Get in Shape Girl” set which I wanted more than dolls or the latest gadgets. As an adult, I struggled like so many black women to maintain a consistent workout regime due to balancing child rearing, balancing a career, dealing with stigma from male partners, and of course, my hair! I began to run log distance to fit into a wedding dress and feel in love with running. From their I created Six Miles later, changed my career as a mental health counselor to a holistic therapist, left unfruitful relationships, and moved out of state with the love of my life. My life has changed for the better due to focusing on my health and wellness. I’m grateful to share my journey of weight loss, and gain, coming out to my friends and family, and now living my best life all because I started running! I’m grateful to be apart of the VF&W community as a coach and counselor. I want to see us WIN!
